Mistakes are sometimes funny! So laugh!

I have to laugh at myself today. Cons is starting Prep next year, and clearly I am more excited about that fact than I would have thought.

Before he starts, he is required to have a meeting with one of the prep assessors (can't think of another title) to see where he sits on the developmental continuum. So, we organise that for today. Madi is at kindy, Pip is being looked after by a friend, and off Cons and i go. This most exciting "meeting" that Cons is prepared for.

We find where we need to be, and sit patiently and wait for our turn. Cons is so proud to be there. So happy with the fact he will be having "a meeting" of his own. After 10 minutes "Joy" comes out of her office to greet us. As soon as her eyes met mine, I knew there was something out of whack.

Turns out, we had turned up at the right time, on the wrong day!!! Cons slaps his head and says "Oh mum, you're such a goose". Hilarious! That I am. In the car ride on the way home he clarifies...."but I am a duck mum". Gorgeous!

Sometimes it doesn't matter how excited we are, we can still get things wrong. And that is okay. Today was a great lesson in how to laugh at myself, and see my son see it is okay not to get everything right.

I guess the distinct upside is that the expectations "Joy" will have of Connor will no doubt be low, if his mother can't even get him to the right place, at the right time, on the right day? Funny!
